Software Components




System software is computer software designed to operate the computer hardware and to provide a
platform for running application software.


System software helps use the operating system and computer systems to control the operation of computers. There are 4 types of system software- operating systems, compilers, interpreters and assemblers. Examples of system softwares:
BIOS
Microsoft Windows
MAC OS X
Linux













Application software is the name given to the programs that perform specific tasks for users. For example, games, instant messengers, word processors, and antivirus programs are all applications.
Another example of a application software would be Microsoft Word,  Microsoft Excel,  Microsoft Powerpoint these are office applications.
Also another example of a application software would be video games. Application softwares make it easier to translate video games and other software into different languages.






Utility software is a kind of system software designed to help analyze, configure, optimize and maintain the computer. A single piece of utility software is usually called a utility or tool.
Utility software should be contrasted with application software, which allows users to do things like creating text documents, playing games, listening to music or surfing the web.
Another software utilitie would be firefox, it helps you guard against the possibility that your profile gets corrupted or wiped after installing a new extension or a new version of fire fox.
